Spotlight on: Lissa Thompson, Affordable Housing Program Manager

Lissa recently celebrated her 2 year anniversary at Operation Hope! She joined the organization in May of 2006 after she had been working and volunteering in the Fairfield Public Schools. Prior to that, she graduated from Dartmouth College in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and spent the next eighteen years as a software developer and systems engineer in the computer industry. She brought administrative experience, technological expertise, problem solving and customer relations skills to the Operations team.

Lissa was initially hired as Operation Hope’s Operations Assistant and Affordable Housing Program Assistant. She gracefully balanced the two jobs at Operation Hope. She provided administrative support to all aspects of the Operations Department including Facilities, Finances, Human Resources, IT support, and the Affordable Housing Program.

Because of her impressive performance and her incredible dedication to her work and to the organization, Lissa was promoted to Affordable Housing Program Manager in February of 2007. Her first order of business was to integrate a newly-built 8-unit supportive housing project, Jarvis Court Homes, into the Affordable Housing Program. Lissa has used her natural affinity for organizing to increase efficiencies within the program and to update the program’s policies and procedures. The program has benefitted from Lissa’s approach to management which is calm, thoughtful, fair, and client-focused. She is truly dedicated to offering high quality housing supportive housing so those who are homeless or at risk may have the opportunity to become more self-reliant and improve their quality of life.

Lissa is a pleasure to work with and Operation Hope is very luck to have her aboard!
