In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Boy Scouts of America, Troop 88 of Fairfield, sold 100 square feet of Square Foot Garden kits. The proceeds from the sale of the kits were used to donate a garden to non-proft organizations in the local area, including Operation Hope, St. John’s in Bridgeport, Pathways in Greenwich (a mental health group home), Mercy Learning Center, amongst others. The scouts helped to drill holes, put the kits together for sale, as well as, build and install the gardens.
The Operation Hope’s Square Foot Garden has been installed on First Church Congreational’s garden plot within the Fairfield Community Gardens and will be planted and tended by First Church Congregational Youth Groups under the direction of Jennifer Habetz.
The many men, women and Families Operation Hope serves thank Boy Scout Troop 88 and First Congregational Church for their generosity.
