2012 3K Winter Walk

Sunday March 4th Milford, CT sponsored by: Great River Golf Club and Chip's Restaurant

Why not take advantage of the mild weather this winter and take a walk for a good cause? On Sunday, March 4th, the Great River Golf Club in Milford will host a 3K Winter Walk along their scenic golf cart path. It kicks off at 12:00 p.m. for walkers of all ages. And no worries if you’re little ones are in strollers, they’re welcome too.

Participants can take a brisk walk on all or part of the course. And if you need a break, Fairfield’s own Chip’s Family Restaurant will be there with hot chocolate, hot cider, and their famous family-style pancakes. Recognized three times by Connecticut Magazine as one of the top breakfast places in Connecticut, Chip’s Restaurant menu is famous for its
large variety of forty different feathery pancakes and outrageously fluffy omelets.

“We are a family restaurant,” said Chip’s owner George Chatzopolous. “Everything is homemade and that’s what makes the difference.”
Making a difference is exactly why Great River Golf Club got involved. Last fall, they hosted an outing for Operation Hope and the rest, as they say, is history. “After meeting [them] and see how dedicated they are and learning some of the challenges they face,” said Terrence Gumbs, Director of Sales for Great River Golf Club, “we became open to helping.”
Their golf cart course is an easy pathway with only a slight elevation in some parts. All in all, a great way to get some exercise and a good meal!

Registration is $10 per walker with sponsorship and pledge forms available. All proceeds will go to fund Operation Hope’s community programs. Prizes will be awarded to those teams or individuals who raise the most money.
