special needs
- Resume Paper: needed for client computer lab to assist with job applications.
- New socks and underwear: various sizes, for both women and men.
- Hand Soap Refills and Sugar: to be used at our shelter facility.
- Bath towels: to be used by our shelter guests.
- Bathroom mats/rug: for the shelter bathroom.
- Shelter cleaning items: As a way to pay their nightly shelter fees, some of our clients perform simple tasks to help keep our shelter clean and tidy. We are currently in need of a vacuum and rug sweeper.
- Personal Care Products: Often our shelter guests arrive with nothing when they come to stay with us. Their greatest basic needs include new, unused: soap, washcloths, deodorant, toothbrushes, fitted sheets (twin size), pillow cases and feminie products.
- Kitchen Utensils: We are in need of serving spoons and general silverware (especially spoons and forks) for the Community Kitchen at our shelter facility.
- DVD Player: The lounge in our Shelter for Women is in need of a new DVD player. If you have a new or like-new DVD player that you would like to donate please contact Rebecca Minnock, Shelter Program Manager, at (203) 254-2935.
- Antivirus Protection: This is a unique request: Our computer systems and server require increased antivirus protection to more fully secure our agency’s confidential client information, among other things. In a time of cost-savings and budget cuts for our organization, we thought we would extend this as an option should someone be interested in generously funding such a necessary protection item. One year of Antivirus for our system will cost $1,400, two years will be $2,100. If you are interested, please contact Liz Bennett: (203) 292-5588.
- Garden Supplies: Clean out your garage and donate your extra or unused garden supplies to our Organic Vegetable Garden. We are begining the second season of our organic garden to provide fresh vegetables to our shelter and food pantry. We are looking for supplies to help get the garden going again this year including row covers, organic fertilizers/bug control products, stakes, deer netting, seeling trays with covers, soil for starting seeds, peat moss, perennial herbs, organic straw, wood to build a compost bin and raised beds, metal or plastic garbage bins, and plants. If have any of the above items that you no longer need or have extra left over or would be willing to provide us with the money to help purchase any of these items please contact Michelle Stearns: (203) 292-5588.
